Charges unlikely in fatal pit bull attack

TEXAS -- Charges will likely not be filed against the owner of pit bulls that attacked a woman who eventually died from her injuries.

Last week, Edna Dyson, 71, had gone to check on a rental property in the 800 block of Swiss Lane that she owns when neighbor's dogs slipped through the fence.

Ms Dyson died of her injuries

Dyson crawled to her car and got inside and waited for help. She died days later.

Because the dogs were euthanized, the district attorney's office said it is unlikely charges will be brought against their owner. However, Dyson's family is still seeking justice.

"It's really hard for me because that was my mom," said Regina Dyson, Edna Dyson's daughter. "I just knew I'd have more and more years with her."

Regina Dyson, her sister, Lawanda, and their father, Billy, all described Edna as a person who would do anything for anyone. She had a passion for singing and was a teacher in the Houston Independent School District for 33 years. Edna's family said their mother's life shouldn't have ended the way it did.

"It's a homicide and someone has to face what happened," Lawanda Dyson Lindsey said.
