TENNESSEE -- A Monroe County couple is facing felony charges after investigators said their dogs attacked a woman while she put up Christmas decorations in her own yard.
Records show the incident happened over the weekend at a home on Rausin Hollow Road near Sweetwater. Officials with the Monroe County Sheriff's Department said the animals were aggressive.
According to their report, dispatchers took a 911 call on Saturday afternoon about a woman who had been attacked by three dogs.
First responders to the scene found the woman lying in the rear bed of a truck. They said she was bleeding "profusely" from both arms and legs.
She later told officers the dogs had her on the ground for several minutes until some good samaritans drove past her home and stopped to held.
Neighbors said they have never known the dogs to be a threat. In fact, they said they are usually kept in a fenced in back yard. "I've not really seen much out of them, just barking and carrying on, that's a bout it. they usually been locked up a fence all this time," said neighbor Vince Lancaster.
The woman was taken to be treated at UT Medical Center. The dog's owners, William and Jessica Jones, are facing charges for allowing their dogs to run free and cause injury.
Records show authorities had spoken to the Williams before, after their dogs tried to attack another neighbor. The animals have been deemed aggressive and are being held at a city facility in Sweetwater.
