In June, "Bo" was found mutilated in the Deep Springs community. The dog had at least 10 cuts on his body.
Police arrested 47-year-old Charlotte Streeter of Jacksonville for the attack.
A woman told police that Streeter bragged to her about how she and her son sliced up a dog named "Bo." Streeter, according to the witness, said she left the dog in a garage during a storm.
The dog apparently tore up the plastic of a mattress, and that's when Streeter attacked the animal, according to the witness. According to the witness, Streeter exclaimed, "We f----d that dog up, we sliced the s--t out of that dog. I ain't even worried about the money of the mattress. That dog probably died!"
But "Bo" the dog didn't die. He had surgery and is expected to recover.
Earlier this week, Streeter's name surfaced during an elderly abuse investigation. Police went to interview an 83-year-old woman at St. Vincent's Hospital about abuse at the hands of Streeter, her caretaker.
The elderly woman told police that she was afraid of Streeter and didn't want to tell police about what happened because Streeter would be back that night and beat her. Police noticed the woman had two black eyes, cuts to her elbow and knees, and a broken nose.
When questioned about the incidents by police, Streeter denied hurting the elderly woman as well as the dog. Days later police arrested her.
Streeter's been charged with cruelty to animals, aggravated elderly abuse, and aggravated battery to a person over 65. She is being held on a $900,000 bond.
The Jacksonville Humane Society offered a $500 reward in the case. Good Samaritans added to the fund, raising it to $2,100. The reward will be paid upon the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
