TEXAS -- A Texas man is accused of stomping his neighbour's Chihuahua to death after it mated in his yard with his Yorkshire terrier.
Convicted felon Richard Henry Zeidler, 56, was arrested on Sunday after police in Katy say the tiny dog escaped from its home and made the fatal mistake of entering Zeidler's yard and meeting his dog.
Deputies arrived at the scene sometime after the attack around 9.45pm, discovering the animal's trampled body when the Chihuahua's owner called police, concerned over her dog's escape.
Ziedler was arrested and charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals.
The dog's body was taken by Houston's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals for a necropsy. Its results are still pending.
The Houston Chronicle reports Zeidler having a criminal history, though this being his first accused animal attack.
In 2006 he was jailed for 20 days after allegedly grabbing a family member by the neck. In 1994 he was sentenced to 10 years behind bars after pleading guilty to a third offense while driving under the influence. His bond has been set at $10,000.
