FLORIDA -- Firefighters rescued and resuscitated a cat from a house fire Wednesday night. Two dogs, a cocker spaniel and a German shepherd perished in the blaze, according to a news release from Marion County Fire Rescue.
Residents discovered the fire upon returning home and called 911. Firefighters responded to the fire at 16 Chestnut Run, Ocala, at 9:59 p.m. They arrived in five minutes and saw smoke through the whole house and under the eves.
Eight units responded, and firefighters were able to contain the fire to one room, according to the news release. They had the blaze under control by 10:23 p.m.
During a secondary search, firefighters discovered the cat. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
