Man Arrested has History of Animal Neglect Charges

IOWA -- It turns out the man accused in a case of animal neglect - after a horse on his property had to be put down by authorities Tuesday - has a long history of similar charges.

89-Year-old Ralph Stricker was arrested Tuesday.

The horse had been on the ground - lying in the same spot for more than 24-hours.

Cerro Gordo County deputies tell us they've responded to Stricker's for loose cows and horses more than 70 times in the past few years.

Online court records show, beginning in 2007, Stricker has been charged with animal neglect, cruelty to animals, and livestock neglect a total of 14 times since 2007.

Several of those were dismissed, but records show he was found guilty eight times.

We did contact Stricker who tells us he does not wish to comment at this time.
