Massapequa rattled by 2 pit bull attacks in 1 week

NEW YORK -- A community in Massapequa is rattled after a pair of dog attacks.

Lauren Gellar says she was on Division Avenue on Thursday night when a large, gray pit bull knocked her down and attacked her 11-month-old Yorkshire terrier, killing him.

Two days earlier, Angela Arango says she was walking her dog on Clocks Boulevard when she was attacked by what she described as a white pit bull with gray spots. She needed multiple stitches.

The two attacks were about four miles apart, and it's not clear if it was the same dog.

The Town of Oyster Bay says it's aware of both attacks. Officials say they are still searching for the dog or dogs.
