PD: animal control officer arrested for animal cruelty

CONNECTICUT -- An animal control officer surrendered to police in Woodbridge Monday on a warrant charging her with animal cruelty.

Police said 59-year-old Karen Lombardi voluntarily surrendered herself to the police department Monday morning.

Lombardi was charged with one count of cruelty to animals.

Police said her arrest stems from an investigation into an incident that occurred in November 2012 at the Woodbridge Animal Control facility.

Lombardi was released on a promise to appear in New Haven Superior Court on April 19th.
