Dariyan Bland is now in the hospital, and police confirm they are now investigating.
"Somebody should be held accountable for it," said Bryan Bland who has joint custody and is furious after seeing his son's condition. "It takes all my power and energy not to go to the hospital and act a fool."
The pit bull attack happened at a Pin Oak Court home that sports a beware of dog sign. The attack was so brutal the child's front teeth are gone. His neck is stitched from end to end.
"You are saying you want criminal charges?" we asked Mr. Bland.
"Yes. I do," replied Bland.
"What type of charges?" we asked.
"Neglect," replied Bland.
We contacted the Colonial Heights Police department to check on the status of the case.
"Charges are pending," said Sgt. Robert Ruxer. "They have not been secured yet."
The family pet, Oreo, is now on a 10 day quarantine with animal control.
"I have no feelings for that dog," said Dariyan's mom who owned the dog. "It is gone. He won't be at my home."
Mom says she was at work, and the babysitter saved her son's life.
"My older son had walked in to get something and within 15 seconds she heard him scream," said Mom. "So no neglect at all."
Dad says his son is also getting a series of rabies shots. The other child was not hurt in the attack.
