Police say they saw Amanda Peebles and Tracy Orr physically hurt a small dog on Wednesday.
Officer Shawn Hudson had stopped a driver in the 1800 block of Beech Street SE. During the traffic stop, Officer Hudson saw Peebles and Orr sitting on the front porch of a nearby home. The officer saw Peebles kick a small dog in the side twice.

The officer then saw Orr pick up a metal object and strike the dog in the back of the head, causing the animal to fall to the ground.
Police arrested the women. Both are charged with Cruelty to Animals 2nd degree.
The dog was released to Decatur Animal Services Animal Cruelty Investigator Miles Naylor. Naylor tells WHNT News 19 the dog is doing well, and is healthy and playful. Animal Services is working to gain legal custody of the dog and will later likely place him with a rescue agency out of state.
