IOWA -- Three dogs described as pit bulls attacked a 79-year-old man and his dog in in Waterloo, continuing a string of such attacks in the city.
The attack happened Wednesday while Bill Winder, of Waterloo, was walking in George Wyth State Park with his dog, Snickers.
Winder says three pit bulls attacked Snickers, a 50-pound Wheaton terrier.
While Winders tried to pull the dogs off, two women who appeared to own the dogs grabbed them and put them in a car. They refused to identify themselves and left.
Winder received 14 puncture wounds and his dog had severe bites to its neck.
Police say they haven't located the women.
After a rash of pit bull attacks, Waterloo officials are considering strengthening the city's animal ordinance.
