PENNSYLVANIA -- The owner of a dog that attacked the dog of Danville Mayor Bernie Swank and her husband Red Swank has been cited by a dog warden.
Kenneth Snyder cited Stephen S. Marcus, of 205 Water, for the incident.
In the citation, Snyder states restitution of $143 in veterinarian bills is due.
Marcus would be subject to a $35 fine for failing to keep his German shepherd confined at all times.
The incident occurred July 20 between Water and Pine streets.
The Swanks were walking Lex, their white 5-year-old lhasa apso, along with two other dogs when they came to about a half-block from 205 Water St.
A female German shepherd named Lady jumped the fence and bit Lex, the Swanks said.
Lex was treated at the Animal Care Center.
Mayor Swank said he suffered bite wounds on the back and two wounds which were kept open so they could drain.
After the attack, Red Swank grabbed Lady’s collar, lifted her off the ground and told the owner to retrieve her.
