NEW JERSEY -- A Glen Gardner man is accused of savagely beating his sister’s Yorkie to death with a remote control, according to police.
Eric Wesley, 40, of Main Street in Glen Gardner has been charged with cruelty to animals.
On Aug. 12 in Secaucus, Wesley repeatedly stuck his sister’s five-pound Yorkshire Terrier in the head with a remote control around 8:30 p.m., according to police.
Wesley’s sister rushed the injured Yorkie to Fairfield Animal Hospital in Essex County, but vets were unable to save the dog, according to police.
Vets at the animal hospital reported that the dog died due to the injuries sustained to its head during the beating, police said.
The next day Wesley’s sister reported the crime to the Secaucus police and Wesley surrendered to cops on Aug. 15.
Wesley appeared in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City on Wednesday before Judge Margaret Marley to hear the charges.
Wesley and his sister could not be reached for comment.
