FLORIDA -- On July 20th of this year Palm Beach County deputies were called to investigate an animal abuse case.
PBSO says that a neighbor in the 11000 block of 52nd Rd North was concerned about the health of the horses being kept on an adjacent property.
Investigators say that Stephanie Traveis had a horse that appeared to be malnourished with its bone structure plainly visible.
Deputies say that two other horses were walking freely around the property even though the fence of the property was in disrepair and slats were missing.
Traveis, according to PBSO, tethered the underweight horse to a stall that was filled with piles of feces.
Deputies say that the stalls and yard were littered with feces and there was no grass for grazing.
They said there was also debris in the yard including nails sticking up from boards and broken pieces of glass.
Traveis was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on felony animal cruelty charges.
