Virginia: Two Suffolk men arrested in animal cruelty case

VIRGINIA -- Two men have been arrested in Newport News following an investigation into an animal cruelty case that occurred in Suffolk.

On October 15, police met with complainants for a possible animal cruelty incident. The victims advised that they believed their dog, a one year old female Labrador - pit bull mix named Luna, had been shot and killed by two friends who were initially asked to take the dog to the Newport News SPCA on October 10.

  

A preliminary investigation revealed that the dog had been shot and then buried at the property located in the 1900 block of Bridge Road in Suffolk on October 11.

Ian T. Sazama, 21, was arrested and charged with cruelty to animals.

Alexander J. Meese, 23, of Newport News was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice/false statement, malicious wounding animal, conspiracy/animal cruelty and animal cruelty.
