Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lisa Chung found there was enough evidence for Jacques, of Santa Clarita, to stand trial. Witnesses for the prosecution included former boarders at Equine Avenue, Jacques's former business in Leona Valley, and Sgt. Rachel Montez-Kemp with animal control.
Jacques is charged with four felony counts of cruelty to an animal and five misdemeanor counts of failure to care for an animal. The felony counts represent two horses that died and two others that were euthanized, allegedly due to the defendant's negligent care.
Jacques is represented by alternate public defender Hung Phi Du. If she is found guilty on all counts, she faces a maximum sentence of up to seven and a half years in prison.
Jacques is scheduled to be back in court on January 28th.
