Idiotic neighbors defend woman, Andrea Mikkel, accused of animal cruelty

ARIZONA -- As sheriff's deputies investigate what they called an extreme case of hoarding, several neighbors and friends are defending the woman (Andrea Mikkel) accused of animal cruelty.

Sheriff's deputies said that the investigation had been going on for sometime after complaints about odor and noise. Sheriff's spokesperson Deputy Joaquin Enriquez said the animals were malnourished and the owner could face animal cruelty charges.

Diane Calderon, a neighbor and the woman's friend is infuriated.

"She may have been a hoarder but she took good care of the animals," she said.

Diane Calderon has officially been named the IDIOT OF THE DAY.

Calderon showed ABC 15 bales of hay and food on the property.  Calderon herself said she and others would help the woman feed the animals and were helping her sell them and get them to homes.

"There is no rule to how many animals you can have," she said. "They are all healthy.  This is not animal cruelty.  This about helping someone who may have mental illness."

Calderon said the woman spent a lot on vet bills and food.

Deputy Enriquez said there were feces all over the home and even in the woman's bed.

Calderon said it was a problem but felt is was exaggerated.

Hmm, would this moron like to sleep in that bed? Would she like to walk barefoot around in all the feces and urine? She needs to keep her mouth shut.
