In that same report released by Metro Police Tuesday, it was revealed the owner of the dogs, Jesse Von Staden, had a visit from Animal Control three weeks prior to the attack.
On Jan. 26, Animal Control went to Von Staden's home after they received several reports that her dogs were out loose on the streets. However, Von Staden got off with a warning, police said.
But those were the same dogs that attacked Aguilar on Friday. Officers said mixed-breed pit bulls attacked the 67-year-old woman while she was in her yard.
The report said; Aguilar's injuries were so bad her left arm was "in danger of being amputated."
Aguilar also suffered a broken leg and nearly lost an eye. Her condition is critical.
Police said a neighbor came to Aguilar's rescue by using gardening tools to fight off the dogs, but the man was also hurt.
Metro said when they arrived at the scene they found four pit bulls walking around the yard. Officers said they had to shoot one of the dogs after it lunged at them.
The other three dogs were impounded by animal control. Jesse Von Staden was arrested Monday, but it turns out this isn't the first time the 29-year-old has been in trouble about her pets.
In November 2014 Von Staden's neighbors complained about her dogs' fighting, so Animal Control got involved.
Court records show she was charged with three misdemeanors for not getting her dogs sterilized or rabies vaccinations, and for having four dogs without a permit. The county limit is three.
Alexander Contreras is a pit bull owner and lives a few homes down from Von Staden. He says on several occasions he has seen her dogs running loose.
“The owners were home, so they came instantly, but at the same time the dogs still managed to get out," Contreras said.
The District Attorney's Office filed a criminal complaint charging Von Staden for Friday's dog mauling. The 29-year-old faces two counts for being a neglectful dog owner resulting in substantial bodily harm or death and two counts for having a dangerous or vicious dog.
She'll be in court Wednesday.
