High school student Kenneth Rahe arrested for torturing baby chicks to death

KANSAS -- A Mulvane student has been arrested on animal abuse charges.

Kenneth Riley Rahe is listed on the Sedgwick County Jail's booking sheet this morning.

He faces one charge of Cruelty to Animals; Knowingly Kill or Injure Animal.


According to the complaint filed in court, "on or about the 8th day of March, 1 Kenneth R Rahe did then and there unlawfully, knowingly and maliciously kill, injure, maim, torture, burn or mutilate an animal to whit baby chickens."

His bond was set at $2,500.  He is no longer in jail.

 

Rahe's preliminary hearing is set for May 19th.

Mulvane's Police Chief Dave Williams says Rahe is one of three Mulvane High School students who were being investigated after reports surfaced of students lighting live chicks on fire and killing them.

The incidents reportedly happened both on and off school grounds.
