Fowler and Candela were sentenced to 20 days in jail, which they have to report for in about three months. They also have to perform 120 hours of community service, all served at the Animal Protective League. They cannot own pets for 2 years, unless they are approved.
They also have to issue a public apology on YouTube and Facebook within one week.
The incident happened on February 16, then Fowler uploaded the video to his Facebook page. He is seen throwing the cat with Candela and dropping it at one point.
Fowler admitted to Fox 8 back in February that he was drunk and high at the time, even while babysitting. However, Ashtabula City Solicitor Michael Franklin said child endangering charges were not likely because the kids weren’t harmed.
