Baby hospitalized after dog bite in San Francisco

CALIFORNIA -- An 8-month-old baby was taken to the hospital after being reportedly bitten on the head by a dog in San Francisco Wednesday morning, officials said.

First responders received a call at around 8 a.m. of a baby being bit by a mastiff mix on the 800 block of Masonic Avenue beside the Panhandle, said Jen Balestrieri, a spokewoman for the San Francisco Fire Department. The baby was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, she said.

The caller said the dog had been locked in a room after the incident, according to Balestrieri. Police officers also responded to the scene
