Danbury pet shop owner, Richard Doyle, scheduled to face a judge for animal cruelty

CONNECTICUT -- A Danbury pet shop owner charged with animal cruelty is on the docket to face a judge on Thursday.

Police said 55-year-old Richard Doyle of Mahopac, NY, owner of American Breeders, performed an illegal medical procedure at at least one dog. They said he also failed to properly care for a sick puppy and kitten, both of which had to be euthanized.

A store employee allegedly documented the crimes.

Doyle owns two other pet shops in New York, police said.

He was arrested last month on an arrest warrant.

Police also expected to charge Kathy Seton, one of Doyle's store managers, with animal cruelty charges.

Doyle is due in Danbury Superior Court.
