Undisclosed settlement reached in Klonda Richey wrongful death suit

OHIO -- The wrongful death lawsuit filed against the owners of the dogs that killed a Dayton woman in 2014 has been dismissed.

In February 2014, Klonda Richey’s body was found outside her home in Dayton. She had been attacked and mauled to death by her neighbors two mixed Cane Corso Mastiff dogs.

Those neighbors, Andrew Nason and Julie Custer were named in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Richey’s estate executor, Barbara Schneider.

According to Montgomery County court records filed this week, Schneider is voluntarily dismissing the case against them.

Earlier documents submitted to the court indicate there was an agreement made between parties. The details were not disclosed.

Andrew Nason and Julie Custer were already found guilty for failing to control their dogs. In May, they were sentenced to a few months of jail time, had to pay a fine and can never own another dog.

Animal Control, the police, judges failed to protect her

According to court records, the executor of Rickey’s estate is still suing Montgomery County Commissioners, Animal Resource Center and a few others. She claims they did not do enough after Richey complained numerous times about the dogs before her death.

  1. Disquting people. They should have been in jail for life. They had to hear her screaming from being attacked. They are scum. The dog warden should have been demoted and charged themselves.
