Charleston Woman, Mary Vores, Pleads Guilty To Animal Cruelty Charge After 22 Dead Animals Found in Her House

WEST VIRGINIA -- A Charleston woman has pleaded guilty to animal cruelty in connection with 22 animals that were found dead in her home along Beech Avenue.

Mary Vores pleaded guilty on Wednesday in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Back on July 22, humane officers said they found 22 dead animals in the home along Beech Avenue, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Humane officers said proper medical sustenance was withheld, including food, water and medical treatment, which resulted in the death of 22 animals, the complaint said.

One dog and one cat were found to be living in deplorable conditions, the complaint said.

Kanawha County Magistrate Kim Aaron ordered Vores to pay a fine of $300, cost and fees of $160.25 and cannot possess an animal for five years.
