Longview Officers Help Rescue Local Family's Dog

TEXAS -- On August 30, 2015 at 10:18 a.m., Longview Police Officers responded to an animal call in the 1300 Block of Inverness Street.

When they arrived they were told that a local family's dog, Buddy, had fallen into the storm drain.

Officer Kevin Nichols, Officer Ben Easley, Officer Rolf Kotulla, and Sgt. Chip Koepke worked together to get the labrador retriever safely out of a storm pipe.

Officer Nichols went above and beyond his duties by climbing down through the manhole into the storm drain and then low crawling through an 18" storm pipe for approximately 300', from one manhole to another, in order to rescue the family's beloved pet.

Way to go Officer Nichols!
