OKLAHOMA -- Charges have been dropped against an Edmond dog trainer accused of animal cruelty in February. A judge dismissed charges against Lukas Miller Thursday.
He was accused of abusing a 2-year-old boxer mix that went missing from the Sit Means Sit training facility. According to court documents, Miller admitted to an Edmond Animal Service officer he "used the shock collar to try to locate" the dog and "turned up the collar" in hopes of finding the dog.
The dog was found nearly a mile away by a woman who said the dog appeared to be in pain.
“Heard this yelping and barking coming from out front. I realized there was a dog underneath my car. At first, I thought it might have been hit by a car because it was yelping,” Autumn O’feery said.
“It was actually violently pushing against the front window jumping, and it just sounds like she was in a lot of pain,” she said.
The woman says she tried removing the collar, but the dog bit her.
In February, Miller's attorney David Hamel said, "He's made his entire life dedicated to the health and well-being of dogs and to better the relationship between humans and animals.”
Today, Hamel told News 9 the "facts didn't meet the elements of a felony crime." The charges were dropped at the request of the state.
