UNITED KINGDOM -- Terrifying scenes in Chorley as dog was left with 9 puncture wounds to her body.
Bryan Campbell was out walking his dog around Tatton Community Centre on Sunday (17th July).
He was with his son and his friends when a man came up to him hurling abuse saying Bryan's pet should be on a lead.
That's when the man's own dog began the savage attack and had to pulled off to save Bryan's Collie Cross.
And Bryan tells us it's left a lasting mark:
"She's had so many stiches - well in thirty this time but now probably over 100.
"The wound was about 7-8 inches deep and at its widest point about 4-5 inches wide. And it's just open flesh.
"Kids were screaming their head off and kids were coming from all over the park. And all they could see was my dog just bleeding out of her neck."
The children were traumatised by the attack and the dog had to be rushed to the vets to get medical treatment.
But now Bryan - who's disabled- is facing having to pay those vet bills and is struggling to cope with the extra burden.
So an appealing is being launched to help get him the money to cover the costs.
Hi I am raising money for my brother whose dog was attacked by a another dog in Chorley park last week by a American pit bull . This was a very bad savage attack. The dog received 9 puncture wounds to the body. This attack was done in front of children and his own son as you can imangine this is distressing for everyone involved apart from the person who was in charge of the dog that was attacking my brother's dog
My brother was with his young son and his other dog which was on a lead. This had caused my brother great distress and traumatised his pets and son Who witness the attack.
My brother has no means of paying his vet bills as he is disabled and does not work. They have filled in forms for PDSA and went to 2 rspca's.
Sami is undergoing a second major surgery as I write this. My brother was given a choice of the dog being put down or finding the money he has had to begin for this money to pay for the surgery.
Putting the dog down was not an option.
He did not ask for this but I know he would be very greatfull for any donations no matter how small.
His vet bill at the moment are £500 plus and are set to rise.
His dogs are his life and mean the world to him.
