Newschannel 3's Mara Thompson spoke with the victim about what he plans to do now that police found the man responsible.
Ron Bardo, the man attacked by the dog, said, “I'm kind of surprised, in a good way actually, I was not expecting it.”
A tip from the public led police to the owner of the pit bull that attacked 60-year-old Bardo and police say a 62-year-old Kalamazoo man was responsible for the dog.
Bardo said, “People know things, but they usually don't say anything, but for the Silent Observer or whoever, thank you. Glad to know somebody stepped up and at least somebody let somebody know something.”
Bardo suffered traumatic injuries to his arms before an officer eventually shot the pit bull six times, killing it.
He says it is sad the owner never came forward.
He said, “Whoever lets the dog run out like that should own up and take responsibility for it. They just should.”
A criminal case has now been submitted to the Kalamazoo City Attorney’s Office for review and Bardo is confident there will be justice on some level.
Bardo said, “I'm sure, like all things legal, it's a long process we're just going to see where it plays out and see where goes from there at this point in time.”
