Michigan: Darrin Pickard Jr. sentenced to 93 days in county jail for leaving puppy locked in a hot car for four hours

MICHIGAN -- A Manistee man who admitted to leaving a dog in a car on a hot day has been sentenced to jail.

Traverse City police say Darrin Pickard Jr. left a 10-week-old Doberman Pinscher puppy locked in a pet crate inside a hot car at Munson Medical Center for nearly four hours.

Pickard pleaded guilty earlier this summer to animal cruelty.

Thursday morning he was sentenced to 93 days in jail, one year probation and he cannot have any animals.

In May, Pickard was also ordered to pay $19,000 in restitution for a February animal cruelty conviction in Manistee County.

His wife Brittanie Wiggins Pickard (Brittanie Pickard) was also charged with animal cruelty and pleaded guilty last month. She was sentenced to 120 days in the county jail and put on probation for five years.
