Oregon: Tim Bigelow, sentenced for killing neighbor’s cat back in jail on parole violation

OREGON -- A Springfield man sentenced last month for killing his neighbor’s cat is ALREADY back in jail.

Tim Bigelow, 51, was arrested Friday evening for allegedly violating his probation by possessing a firearm.

Bigelow pleaded guilty May 12 to first-degree aggravated animal abuse, a felony, after admitting he shot and killed his neighbor’s cat with a pellet gun on March 15.

He was ordered to serve 30 days in jail and barred from possessing any dangerous or deadly weapons during his three-year term of probation. He also was prohibited from owning pets for 15 years.

The judge who sentenced Bigelow advised him that he would be sent to prison if he violated his probation.

Lane County Parole and Probation took Bigelow into custody with assistance from the Springfield Police Department.

Springfield police Sgt. Jeff Martin said he didn’t know how the county agency learned of the alleged violation. The agency couldn’t be reached for comment Saturday.
