Tennessee: Is Debra Jane Catledge, accused of animal cruelty in Alabama, now living in Tenneessee?

ALABAMA -- After Debra Jane Catledge pleaded not guilty to animal cruelty charges relating to the alleged puppy mill she was running (Yorkies and Pomeranians), the case goes cold. Whatever happened with it? I couldn't find any updated media stories which said she took a plea deal or was found guilty or not guilty, etc.

Back in 2012, authorities went to her property and seized 122 Yorkies and Pomeranians found outside her home on Hwy 72 in the Barton community. Animal control officers found two dead dogs frozen to their wire cages. The dogs were housed in wire cages 3 to 4 feet off the ground (picture rabbit hutches and dogs simply existing to breed and produce product for Debra Jane Catledge to sell and profit from. These dogs were not household pets, they probably didn't have names, they got no love or interaction with children, other pets, or learned how to be housebroken or basic obedience training. They were probably given automatic feeders and water bottles so that Catledge didn't even have to bother with them for days at a time).

What I did find, though, is that a Debra Jane Catledge has moved back in with her parents in Memphis, Tennessee. According to advancedbackgroundchecks.com, Debra is now living in Tennessee:

Name: Debra Jane Catledge
Age: 55
Address: 4869 Cromwell, Memphis TN 38118
Phone: 901-363-9477
Possible relatives:
James E Catledge (aka James Catledge, 98?)
Neva B Catledge

Neva B. Catledge and James E. Catledge are the parents of Debra Jane Catledge:
4869 Cromwell is located in Memphis and has a value of $59,500. The legal description for this property is Residential and is owned by Catledge James E & Neva B who resides at 4869 Cromwell Ave in Memphis, Tn.

I also found that she goes by Debbie Catledge. Possible previous addresses:
Katy, Texas, Iuka, Mississippi, Iron City, Tennessee, Westport, Tennessee, Cherokee Alabama.

If this is the same Debra Jane Catledge, she has a history of living in Memphis.

From Shelby County, TN court records, Debra Jane Catledge divorced Timothy Wendell Stults. The dates on the court documents range from December 14, 2011 through June 11, 2013. At the time, Plaintiff Debra Jane Catledge had a listed address of 1330 Highway, Cherokee Alabama 35616. The location of the court is listed as Memphis, Tennessee.

In 2012, when more than 100 animals were seized from her puppy mill business, the address given was 13330 Highway 72.

Prior to her divorce, it appears that she was involved with Tim Stults and her sister Neva Catlege with Border Collies:

March 1 & 2, 2003: The Tim Stults &Tee Read Stock Dog Trial was held March 1st &2nd, 2003, at the HC Livestock Arena in Lawrenceburg, TN. The sheep portion of the trial was judged by Roy Brown; the cattle portion by Tim Stults.

Also, this is listed:

According the APHIS's records, between the dates of December 19, 2013 and April 14, 2014, they had an open case against Debra Jane Catledge in regards to her USDA licensed dog breeding business in Alabama:

Prior to moving to Alabama, Catlege was involved in the Stock Dog Association. I guess she figured it was easier to stuff tiny dogs into rabbit hutches and mass breeding them...

  1. Neva is her mother who I believe is a ward of the state. Her father, James, is deceased. Neva is my aunt. I have only met Debbie once when she was a little girl. On her Facebook, she is dealing in horses and was in Al. No telling where she is.

  6. She should be put in jail for a good amount of time. Then she or family involved should never be able to own any type of animals again.

  10. Sadly, this lady has done it again in Colbert Co, AL. On or around 9/29/23, authorities found 28 dead horses, 10 emaciated horses, and 45 dogs in poor condition. Her name was reported in Saturday's news articles but has since been removed as of Sun, 10/1/23 and I don't believe she has been arrested yet. I hope authorities will build a solid case and she will be punished more severely this time. Laws must be changed especially for repeat and horrendous offenders.

  11. She was arrested again on 10/03/2023, for trying to flee and for none burial of 29 corpses, and for trying to keep officers off her property by way of threating. She bonded out again, but the Grand Jury has MANY more charges pending, and she is in contempt of court, as well as breaking her parole. Those charges alone are enough to send her to jail for a minimum of 3 yrs. Lets hope it is a lot more when they gey done with her.
