On Thursday, August 23, at 9.05pm Malcolm Roy was walking his dog Coda along Farrer Place when a pit bull grabbed the smaller dog.
“My husband tried to push the pit-bull away, scooped up Coda with both hands, up in the air, but this pit-bull jumped up and grabbed Coda and ran away with him in his mouth,” Heather Roy said.
“We are devastated by this tragic loss and would like to warn people to keep an eye out for this vicious dog for fear it may attack a small child or another dog.”
Neighbours heard Mr Roy’s screams during the attack and tried to find Coda. Police were called because there was no response from the rangers.
“Police participated in the search and found a leg of Coda’s,” Mrs Roy said.
“They were very caring and contacted the ranger the next morning.”
The Roys’ wanted to thank their neighbours for trying to help them find Coda.
“Our caring neighbours mustered together and walked the streets looking for the pit-bull terrier and the body of our Coda,” Mrs Roy said.
“A big thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all who searched with torches, and for the comfort and caring. It’s heart-warming to see just how our community came together when tragedy struck.”
