California: Gov Jerry Brown shows his true colors in bringing deported convicted felony animal abuser Marco Antonio Chavez Medina back to the USA and granting him permanent residency

MEXICO -- Marco Antonio Chavez Medina (aka Marco Chavez) was born in Mexico. When he was a baby, his parents illegally crossed the border with him into the United States in 1973.

In 1989, when then-President Ronald Reagan issued a blanket amnesty for the 15+ million illegal aliens in the United States at the time, Medina was handed a green card -- something worth more than gold.

At the age of 19, Medina enlisted in the military. He did not make a career out of it, though, and I don't know what exactly he did while he was in the military, but after his four-year stint he left them.

Not too much longer after that, Marco Chavez Medina committed a horrific crime of animal cruelty on a dog.

I say "horrific" because this was in the late 1990s, animal cruelty cases weren't prosecuted as often as they are now. And even back then - 20 years ago - he was charged with FELONY AGGRAVATED ANIMAL CRUELTY. On top of that, they actually sentenced him to be incarcerated FOR TWO YEARS!

Of course, sentencing what it is, Medina only had to serve 10 months of that. But think, rarely does anyone serve jail time even now - 20 years later - so what he did had to have been so heinous that twenty years ago the jury elected to send him to jail.

Of course, Marco Chavez Medina refuses to admit his crime. Instead, he claims that the jury "got it all wrong" and that he's innocent of the abuse of the dog ("the situation involved a dog in a mechanic shop"). He claims, to this day, that "someone else" beat the dog.

After he finished his jail stint, an immigration judge rightly said "We don't want criminals in our country - especially animal abusers" and deported his animal abusing butt back to Mexico.

However, thanks to a liberal immigration judge, who reinstated his green card ("Come to the USA we love animal abusing immigrants!") and thanks to California Gov. Jerry Brown, Marco Chavez Medina has now returned to the USA - free to abuse more animals. See, what Jerry Brown did was officially pardon him -- as if this crime against this innocent animal had never happened.

FROM THE ARTICLE:
Nathan Fletcher, a former California state lawmaker, founded the Honorably Discharged/Dishonorably Deported Coalition that tries to help deported veterans get back to the U.S.

"We are here today because a group of people said if you are willing to die for a country, that country would not leave you behind, that country would not let you be deported," he said.

Earlier this year at the request of Fletcher's organization, California Gov. Jerry Brown pardoned Chavez for a 1998 conviction for animal cruelty in a dog beating. Chavez said another person was responsible.

Months after he was pardoned, an immigration judge granted Chavez's request to return.

Brown, a Democrat, said Chavez served the U.S. and deserved "to come back home."

Yes, he served our country. However, I hate animal abusers more than anything. And the fact that someone is walking around with this elevated status of a veteran/military serviceman who is A CONVICTED ANIMAL ABUSER is disgusting. And for Nathan Fletcher, Jerry Brown and others to gloss over this fact and welcome him back to the United States with open arms is absolutely maddening.

I might have more sympathy for his situation if he admitted to what he did to that poor dog, admitted that he had a drug/alcohol problem at the time (or whatever his problem was at the time) and asked for forgiveness. Michael Vick admitted to what he'd done, repented and has been (mostly) forgiven by society.

This guy, though, is a coward - he won't admit to what he's done. He doesn't deserve to have the mantle of the respect that comes with military personnel who have served our country with honor.

Oh yeah, and Jerry Brown has turned California into a toilet.

Kansas: The Stafford Police Department brags about its newest K9 -- a Pit Bull that was purchased and imported from Mexico

KANSAS -- As the world is reading about 22-year-old Bethany Stephens, who was just mauled to death by her two pit bulls, dogs she'd raised from puppies, the pit bull propaganda machine keeps churning out 'pro pit bull' stories.

Today we've got yet another small town, underfunded police department being given a police dog. No, they're not given a typical police dog - Belgian Malinois or German Shepherd. No, what the Animal Farm Foundation and Universal K-9 do is they cherry pick pit bulls from shelters, give them some basic training and then offer them for free to underfunded, small town police forces.

The police forces, who can't afford their own K9 unit -- typical police-trained K9 dogs can cost $30,000 or more -- willingly take these 'free' Pit Bulls. The Stafford Police Department in Stafford, Kansas, is the epitome of "small town police force" which could never afford to purchase its own trained K9 -- "The Police Department consists of a Chief Of Police, 1 Sergeant, and 2 officers" so of course they willingly accept this 'free' supposedly 'trained' dog -- the only catch is that they don't get a choice in what kind of dog - and of course Universal K-9 and Animal Farm Foundation ONLY OFFER PIT BULLS TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES.

In exchange, Universal K-9 Operations Director Brad Croft and the Animal Farm Foundation (which has nothing to do with farm animals - it's nothing but a pit bull propaganda tool) get to release media stories and photos which gushingly talk about these wigglebutts being perfect for law enforcement. They claim they saved a shelter dog -- when in fact, the ONLY dogs they choose are pit bulls. The lab mixes, the beagle mixes, the german shepherd mixes... none of them are given a second chance at life. These people have an agenda - and it is to push Pit Bulls onto society.

In this case, they didn't even bother to pull a pit bull from a shelter. THIS DOG WAS IMPORTED FROM A GUARD DOG TRAINING FACILITY IN MEXICO.
Kano is from San Antonio, Texas. Kanos first owner Packo is also the owner of Kanos parents. Packo had a dream for Kano to become a Police K9 from the day he was born. Packo moved to San Antonio, Texas and had to get rid of Kano because of the apartment complex he was living in. Packo did not let this stop the dream he had for Kano. At approximately 4 months old, Packo gave Kano to a friend of his at Viva Dog Training in Negras, Mexico (Gave?? More like SOLD). Animal Farm Foundation and Universal K9 were able to locate Kano at this facility. -- from the Stafford Police Facebook page

This article below is nothing but a press release, an agenda-driven article that is pushing Universal K-9 and Animal Farm Foundation's pro pit bull agenda. Why no mention of the thousands of attacks by pit bulls on pets and livestock? Why no mention of the thousands of attacks by pit bulls on children? Why no mention of the thousands of attacks by pit bulls on adults and elderly people? On owners? Why no mention of the death of Bethany Stephens -- by her own beloved pit bulls, dogs she had raised since they were puppies?

Stafford police officer Kano chewed on his ball after the red nose pit bull assisted in his first drug bust on Monday — finding more than $7,500 worth of marijuana.

It’s the 55-pound puppy’s favorite toy and what he thinks he is searching for. The 1-year-old is unique: saved from the animal shelter and possible euthanasia, has one blue and yellow eye (a trait known in as little as 3.5 percent of dogs) and is the first K-9 pit bull in Kansas, The Hutchinson News reported.

LIES, LIES, LIES. THIS DOG WAS NOT 'SAVED FROM POSSIBLE EUTHANASIA'. IT WAS BRED BY A PIT BULL BREEDER, SOLD TO A TRAINING FACILITY IN MEXICO THAT TRAINS GUARD DOGS. IT WAS THEN PURCHASED AND IMPORTED TO THE USA FROM MEXICO AND HANDED OFF TO THIS SMALL-TOWN POLICE AGENCY WHICH COULD NEVER AFFORD A REAL K9.

He also has an uncanny love for his orange and blue squeaky Chuckit! ball that only another dog would understand. Kano — named after a Mortal Kombat character who also has two different colored eyes — can barely be distracted once he spots his ball.

He sits poised, his muscles showing from his brown and white head down to his paws, watching the ball with his mismatched eyes. With pinned ears, Kano is a menacing sight for any bad guy.

But he’s not a biter, nor is any other pit bull that comes from Universal K-9, a nonprofit organization that trains dogs in San Antonio.

“If they were this vicious great bite dogs wouldn’t the police want them on the force?” Operations Director Brad Croft said. “They are no good at it. They are no good at taking people down. But I will tell you what they are damn good at, (drug) detection.”

Since 2010, Croft said they have trained thousands of K-9s. The organization started as a for-profit but changed to a nonprofit a few years ago to rescue pit bulls that awaited adoption or euthanasia in a shelter.

Instead, Croft and Universal K-9 began to train them for police work. Croft said they look for pit bulls between 12 to 32 months old so departments would get a longer career out of the dog.

"I have always been 'pro-Pit Bull' these dogs are misunderstood" -- Stafford Police Officer Mason Paden states on their official Facebook page

To make the adventure possible, Universal K-9 partnered with Animal Farm Foundation. The foundation advocates for pit bulls and agreed to cover the cost of a handler course. That two-week course costs $2,900 for drug detection or $5,900 for drug detection and tracking.

A trained German Shepherd or Belgian Malinois — the more popular K-9s — can go for over $13,000. But with shelters filling with pit bulls and the foundation paying the fee for the handler course, Universal K-9′s began offering trained pit bulls to departments that couldn’t otherwise afford a K-9.

There are now 52 Universal K-9 pit bulls out on the streets.

“They are there kicking butts and taking names,” Croft said, adding pit bulls usually outwork most other breeds during the training course — as did Kano.

An arrest was made in the Great Bend marijuana bust, and more are expected. No name was released by the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, which called Stafford officer and Kano’s handler, Mason Paden, to assist with the drug bust.

The two have been nearly inseparable since they met at Universal K-9′s handler course from Oct. 16-27. Paden applied to and was accepted for the course supported by the Animal Farm Foundation. The only cost to the Stafford Police Department was travel and lodging.

Paden knew he was getting a pit bull that had been trained by the Universal K-9. But he didn’t know which one. Kano made the decision when he ran out of the cage and at Paden’s feet and became the first certified pit bull K-9 in Kansas’ history, according to the Kansas Police Dog Association and the Heart of America Police Dog Association.

Paden fell in love with the breed after he got Bailee, a brown pit bull mix, seven years ago.

He and Kano usually work the night shift from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the town of fewer than 1,000 residents, making the same laps around the town that “shuts down after midnight.”

K9 HANDLER AND HIS GIRLFRIEND "HAVE A DOZEN PIT BULLS"
Then, they go home to Paden’s girlfriend, Ashley Freidenberger, and about a dozen pit bulls or pit bull mixes. There are five puppies that will go to a home when they mature.

Paden’s father, David Paden, is a detective with the Barton County Sheriff’s Office and a former K-9 handler. Paden had worked with his father’s dogs and grew up around rottweilers. Paden first worked at the department in his hometown of Great Bend where shifts were busy.

“I wish there was more action,” he said. “I still treat it the same.”

Kano is certified to detect marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and ecstasy. In the future, Paden hopes to have Kano trained in tracking as well.

Stafford police chief Doug Brown said the town has had an increase in drugs, mostly marijuana and methamphetamine. He knows Kano will be an asset to the department.

“I am a firm believer of being in the schools. That’s where you will find (the drugs) the fastest in a small town,” Brown said, adding drugs have come in waves in his decades as police chief. “I think there is a major influx right now.”

California: Helen Woodward Animal Center holds special fundraiser for dog from Mexico severely abused by owners, then attacked by pit bulls

CALIFORNIA -- The Helen Woodward Animal Center of Rancho Santa Fe announced Monday that a special fund will support veterinary care for a 2-year-old Pointer mix that was severely abused by his owner and neighbors, and survived a pit bull attack in Mexico.

Named Dwayne "The Rock" for his steadfast strength and sweet disposition, the dog was rescued in Tijuana, Mexico and brought to the United States.

According to the rescuer, Dwayne's owner bound the canine with a crude wire muzzle, kicked him and beat him with sticks.

After the owner was jailed on an unrelated offense, the dog wandered the streets, where residents disgusted by his deformities threw stones and scalding water at him, the rescuer said.

Dwayne was also attacked by a pair of pit bulls. He was left with a deformed muzzle that made his breathing labored, and injuries to his front right leg and elbow, skin and coat.

The dog remains good-natured despite his his ordeal, according to center President and CEO Mike Arms.

"This beautiful dog took all the despicable abuse and neglect man can show to an animal, and still he wouldn't turn on mankind,'' Arms said. "Helping animals like this is at the heart of Helen Woodward Animal Center. This is what we stand for and we'll do everything we can to care for him and protect him.''

People can make donations for the canine's care via AnimalCenter.org/RescueDwayne.

Money raised will be used to enlist specialists who can provide Dwayne with reconstructive surgery, according to center officials. They said Dwayne's injuries were so extensive, and projected veterinary costs so high, that none of the rescuers' usual shelter contacts would accept him.

Dwayne is currently living with a foster family, and will be made available for adoption after he is fully recovered, according to the center.

Both victims were taken to the Green Cross for medical attention.

The agency reported that the child has injuries to his back, arm and face.

The dog was seized.

Just last December, in the state of Morelos, a 2-year-old boy died after being attacked by a pit bull.

Mexico's 'Cinderella carriage' horses forced to drink sewage water and whipped by owners who say 'they only understand violence'

MEXICO --Forced to drink sewage water, brutally beaten by their owners and never seeing a vet - these are the brutal conditions endured by the horses forced to work pulling tourist carriages through Acapulco.

Left to spend their days without food, tethered alongside drug addicts under the city's bridges, the emaciated animals are forced to work long hours after dark ferrying tourists around the streets of the Mexican Pacific Coast resort.

'I don't enjoy beating my horse, but sometimes he gives me no choice,' said Jose Alberto Ramirez, who charges tourists £10 for a 30-minute ride in his brightly-lit pumpkin carriage. 'You have to remember that these are wild animals and that the only thing they understand is violence.'

Mexico's government banned the use of animals for recreational purposes in 2015, putting an end to many of the country's circuses.

And a flood of complaints of their treatment has prompted Acapulco's local government to consider banning horses from pulling Cinderella-style carriages from next year.

'It's an unacceptable situation,' said Acapulco city spokeswoman Irving Avila. 'Not only is the practice of driving a horse down a four-lane carriageway extremely dangerous for the animal and passengers, but the living conditions of many animals defies belief.'

Rafael Gonzalez leaves his four horses beside an river into which locals dump raw sewage. He often neglects to feed them and leaves them nothing to drink but the filthy water that flows past the trees to which they are tethered for 16 hours every day.

'They're my property and I have nowhere else to keep them,' Rafael told MailOnline when challenged on the conditions in which he keeps his animals. 'They often become aggressive and try to bite me, if I left them anywhere else they could injure a tourist.'

'They keep me up at night,' said Samuel Morno, a homeless drug-addict who takes shelter under the same bridge where Rafael's horses are left for 16 hours a day. 'But if living under a bridge is good enough for me, then it's good enough for them.'

'I barely even noticed the horse when I got in for a ride,' said one American tourist from Ohio who declined to be identified after stepping down from a brightly lit carriage pulled by a horse covered in scars and struggling to remain upright. 'If they don't treat their own animals with care then they don't deserve to keep them working.'

Not all the horses in Acapulco live in such abject conditions. Orlando Vallejo is the president of the town's horse-drawn-carriage drivers' union, an organisation which claims that mistreatment of a few drivers' animals will put them all out of business.

'We have our horses cared for 24 hours a day and they see a vet once every six months,' he told MailOnline from the compound where his 20 horses are kept, each provided with shade, fresh water and regular daily feeding sessions.

'We hold our own drivers to account over the state of their animals, but we can't speak for every driver in Acapulco,' he said. 'The few individuals who treat their animals like dirt are going to end up putting 200 people out of business.'

Despite his claims, not all of Orlando's horses are in the best condition. One chestnut stallion displays an open wound on its lower back after being bitten by another horse and continually spits at it to keep it from itching.

The animal still hasn't been seen by a vet. Another, a spotted male named Dalmation, recently had his hoof run over by a taxi and nevertheless continued working.

'We plan to fight the ban, whether or not the government enters into dialogue,' said Magdaleno Liberado, the night caretaker in Orlando's yard, who is equipped with medicines to handle any problem the animals might present.

Should the 2017 ban come into effect, Orlando's union plans to obstruct the city's main roads and stage a hunger strike in front of the mayor's office.

'They don't realise how many families depend on this business to survive,' said Orlando.

The horse drawn carriage tourist attraction has been running along Acapulco's beach-side road since 1953 and is considered one of the highlights of the town's tourists attractions, second only to the cliff divers who launch themselves from over 30 metres into the foaming swell at the western end of the bay.

AnimaNaturalis, an animal rights organisation which helped force the country's 2015 ban on using animals for recreation, says it is delighted with the actions of Mexico's government.

Leonora Esquivel, AnimaNaturalis leader told MailOnline: 'These animals are not objects that can be used for the fleeting pleasure of humans and we are glad that Mexico's government has seen the suffering that such practices cause.'

Despite the carriage drivers union's attempts to enter into dialogue with the government, the banning of their business on Acapulco's streets is set to come into force at the end of the year.

'The government says that when the ban takes effect they'll confiscate my animals without paying me a penny,' said Orlando. 'But I'll be damned if I allow that, I'll sell them off to whoever wants them before that happens, even if that means local criminals,' he added

Mexico: Toddler mauled to death by his family's two pit bulls

MEXICO -- A baby boy died of the bites he suffered in an attack by two pit bull terriers in the central Mexican city of Leon, police told EFE on Friday.

The victim, identified as 21-month-old Matias Reynoso, was attacked Thursday afternoon, according to witnesses in the Arboledas de San Hilarion neighborhood.

Neighbors heard the toddler’s mother scream and desperately call for help, media outlets said.

Residents of the two adjacent homes went into the house and in the patio found the two dogs, whose owners were the little boy’s own parents, biting the child while his mother tried to chase them away.

Thanks to the neighbors’ help, the pit bulls finally let go of the tot, leaving deep bite marks on his neck and face.

He was immediately taken to a nearby clinic, where he died minutes later.

Personnel from Canine Control went to the house and took the dogs away, while the parents must now make a deposition at the Guanajuato state Attorney General’s Office.

Mexico: Stripped of her teeth and claws, and covered in wounds: Heartbreaking images of lioness who died after being kept in appalling conditions by her cruel owner

MEXICO -- A lioness that had been found living in a mechanic's workshop in Mexico suffered such appalling treatment by her owner that she died from her injuries.

Eitan Hernandez, 44, had pulled out the lioness' teeth and claws in order to keep her as a pet in his workshop in Tlaquepaque, in the central-western Mexican state of Jalisco.

The lioness, christened Madonna by her cruel owner, weighed just 88lbs, less than a third of a normal adult lioness, and had open wounds on her back and legs.

A lion has an average lifespan of 29 in the wild, and around 13 in captivity. According to papers found in Mr Hernandez's home, Madonna was 19 when she was rescued

Madonna was rescued along with a lynx by officials from local animal rights group, Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa).

Profepa had managed to find a new home for Madonna in the United States, but the lioness was unable to recover from her injuries and died.

'The animal was in an appalling condition and being kept in an entirely inappropriate location,' Profepa spokesman Eugen Lozada Zamudio said.

'It was not only suffering from malnutrition and severely underweight, but it also had open wounds on its back and on its legs. In many places it had lost large patches of hair, and worst of all we found that at some stage its claws and its incisors had been pulled out presumably to make it less likely to harm its owners.'

Mr Zamudio added: 'She had difficulty walking because she had been in a cramped space for so long. The lynx which we recovered was also having difficulty moving because in contrast to the lion it seemed to have eaten too much and was severely overweight.'

Both animals had been transferred to the Biopark Rescue Unit Coexistence Pachuca where vets tried to bring them back to health. The lynx is reportedly doing better.

The African lion is classified as an endangered species in Mexico for which paperwork is needed, and Eitan Hernandez may face a fine over his treatment of Madonna the lion and the lynx.

It is not the first time Mexican authorities have recovered an animal without claws and teeth.

Earlier in the year a bear named Invictus died after he was recovered from a circus cage and found to have lost his jaw through an infection caused by the fact his teeth had been pulled out.

Man killed by camel at Mexico wildlife sanctuary

MEXICO -- An American man has been killed by a camel that escaped its pen and sat on him at a wildlife sanctuary he owned in the Mexico beach resort of Tulum.

Richard Mileski, 60, originally from Chicago, was reportedly attacked by the animal, which kicked and bit him, before sitting on him.

Mr Mileski was found dead early on Monday.

Speaking to the NY Daily News, Antonio Gomez, a Tulum emergency services spokesman, said: "When we arrived, the people who were there said (the camel) got out of its stable and attacked him.
"It dragged him, climbed on top of him, was kicking him, biting him and sat on top of him."

Ranch employee Manuel Jesús Medina Aldana heard Mileski's cries for help, and after trying unsuccessfully to remove the animal, he used a rope to attach it to a truck and pull it off.

Mileski was still alive when he was carried to his home but died shortly after, reports the Mexico Daily News.

According to the NY Post, the dromedary, which is a type of camel predominantly from the Middle East and North Africa, was taken away by Mexico's federal agency of environmental protection, Profepa.

The attack took place at the Tulum Monkey Sanctuary, a three-acre reserve owned by Mr Mileski that rehabilitates monkeys rescued from the illegal pet trade or threatened by loss of habitat.

The sanctuary sits on land that is part of a 61-acre ranch not far from Tulum's hotel area, and opened in late 2012.

It's also home to other animals, including camels, and white-tailed deer, descendants of those Mileski rescued from an abusive rancher some years ago.

Mileski had been rescuing animals for over 15 years.

According to the Mexico Daily News, it is believed the camel might have been suffering with severe stress as it had been moved to the sanctuary from a circus in Merida.

Fatal pit bull attack in Mexico

MEXICO -- A 4-year-old girl died after being bitten by a pit bull at the home of several aunts in this Mexican border metropolis, police told Efe on Thursday.

The pit bull attacked when the child approached it, biting the girl in the face and throat.

Red Cross personnel rushed to the scene, a home in the poor Tijuana neighborhood of Camino Verde, but the girl's injuries were too severe, police said.

Two of the three aunts who were in the home at the time of the incident were arrested on charges of child neglect, while the pit bull was taken to the municipal pound.

Tijuana authorities have issued several warnings about the dangers of keeping a pit bull in the home.

Child's face restored after dog attack

MEXICO — Surgeons have re-attached a large part of the face of a seven year-old child torn in a pitbull attack, Mexico's state-run Social Security Institute has said.

"This is the first facial re-implant that has been successfully carried out in the country," said Juan Francisco Salazar, an Institute spokesman in the northern state of Nuevo Leon.

Raul Carrizales, age seven, was attacked by a pit bull on June 26 in the city of Monterrey. The fierce dog tore off a large portion of his lower face.

A neighborhood watchman who saw the attack picked up the piece of the boy's face and put it in a plastic bag, and then in a container with water an ice, which allowed surgeons to later fix the boy's face.

The operation on Carrizales took nearly six hours and involved two general surgeons, two plastic surgeons, two nurses and an anesthesiologist, Salazar said.

"The next step is rehabilitation, so that he will again have feeling and movement in his face," Salazar added.
