Nevada: Rick is red-pilled on the truth about Pit Bulls. Laurel is not.

RENO, NEVADA -- Rick Carson posted on Facebook January 22 at 6:55am ·

Someone I love very much got attacked by pit bull this weekend. I'm gonna use this situation once again to condemn these dogs.

Just like almost all pit bull attacks, this dog had never shown any aggressiveness in the past. James had been with the dog, in his words, "A ton of times". As with many things, it's never an issue until it's an issue.

Consider this scenario. You raise a border collie in an apartment in NYC. You don't ever let it outside. Then, when its 8 years old you take it to a farm. What do u think that border collie is going to do? Its going to herd the animals cuz that's what it was bred to do.

I'm not gonna say that pit bulls are any more aggressive than a German Shepherd, Doberman or any other dog. The problem is that they were bred so that when they bit they didn't let go. That's where the death comes into play.

We have all heard that its the owners and not the dogs. Well, if that's the case than why don't we have more killer poodles or killer Golden Retrievers? Are all the bad owners restricted to owning pit bulls? Bull shit.

Maybe this is just one of those topics where we have a conditioned response to until it hits home and it happens to someone you love. Fortunately, or maybe thanks to Providence, this dog did let go. The wounds are on the face so I am putting pic in the comments section as some of you may not want to see it.

Rick Carson - So thankful it missed the eye.

James McMurray - Still in the hospital. Thats a post op picture. Only one bite.

Laurel Moran - It is the owners...& there are poodles & pugs that bite & attack too...I rescued a pit while living in florida..she was brutally abused & trained to fight...she was aggressive & half starved when I took her...I had to hand feed her for months...I had her for 11 years. She was the sweetest dog--she never bit anyone. & I had two kids in the house. Use your head with all animals & teach your kids not to get in any things face & take extra care when they're eating. I adored my Zoey till the day she died April b4 last. It's not the breed...it's people. We bred these poor animals to be fighters...it's disgusting how we manipulate these animals & gave them a bad reputation. I'm soooo sorry your friend got hurt..but it's not the dog...all animal owners should caution their company of their pets regardless of the breed. (No disrespect intended to anyone) just my opinion.

Rick Carson - That's just about the same testimony ive read from every pit bull owner who has owned a pit bull that has killed a kid. Up until the time they killed they were sweet, peaceful, non-threatening. The difference between small dogs that attack and pit bulls is two fold. First off, most small dogs that attack are aggressive by nature...they don't go from being docile animals to attack dogs at the drop of a hat. By most accounts of records I have read on pit bulls, they do this fairly often. They go from peaceful to attack mode instantly. That's what happened with James. The dog came up to him wagging his tail, James reached down to pet him and the dog lunged. The second and more important reason is that while small dogs attacking hurts it usually doesn't kill. With pit bulls it too often does result in death or permanent maiming and injury. I suppose this subject is a lot like texting and driving or experimenting with drugs....we all have opinions but those opinions are subject to change when someone u love is the victim.

Guy Cloney - Any dog biting someone like that needs to be put down...period!

Rick Carson - I agree Guy.... haven't found out yet if this one has been put down. The dog belonged to a friend which makes it tough.

James McMurray - I agree. That's the owner's responsibility to keep others safe.

James McMurray - The surgeon did some amazing work

Kelly Henderson Garrison - I’m not sure how anyone can look at this picture and defend the dog. I am a die-hard dog lover. I think anyone who abuses an animal should be strung up by the balls. But I also think humans deserve at least the same protection. This man was abused by a dog. Do we protect the abuser??๐Ÿคจ

Rick Carson - Kelly, I agree. As ive said, its heartbreaking to put a dog down but holy crap, humans have to come first!!

Utah: Visiting relatives in Las Vegas, little girl mauled in the face by their Pit Bull

UTAH -- This is my 8 yr old daughter Haelo. While on vacation in Vegas my daughter Haelo was bitten by a family pit bull.

She was immediately rushed to Sunrise Children’s Hospital to get treated. Words can’t explain what I seen or felt at that moment and as a mother I never thought something like this could happen!

Haelo had to have a 4 hour trauma surgery to her face and mouth which lead her to be sedated in PICU for 8 days straight.

To see your child in this condition and not able to do anything but pray and hope everything will be ok.

She still is swollen, bruised and swollen in her mouth. Doctors say she will recover at a percent. But mentally and physically there will be a long road ahead of us! We are still in Vegas at the hospital waiting for a release date for Haelo.

I wasn’t going to do a go fund me page, but with me out of work, medical bills will start coming in and the physical therapy sessions and maybe needing one more surgery, I decided to make a page for Haelo. All monies donated will be directly paid towards Haelo’s medical bills and all surgery’s that has to be done!

Mahalo, for reading and thank you for all your help

Nevada: "My dog Buddy was attacked by a Pit Bull"

NEVADA -- Carolyn Cuyler posted on Facebook December 7 at 11:12pm ·

My dog Buddy was attacked by a Pit Bull. If it was not for Glen Mitchell cutting off his collar. He would be in worse shape. He has a puncture wound in his neck and all swollen. Glen wrestled the other dog as well as his daughter they both got bang up for saving Buddy. I appreciate what they both did.

Thank you Glen, Dakota and Aden for saving Buddy. Buddy sleeping with Glen Mitchell. I put his sweater on to cover up the dressing so he would not scratch himself. It worked.

Glen Mitchell - Well buddy was tied up and the pit came over to him checking him out and then buddy bit the pit on the but and it was on! The pit had him on the ground by the neck fortunately the pit had more of buddy's collar than his neck I wrestled with the pit my daughter trying to pull em apart I saw where I could slip my knife under buddy's collar and I cut it off my thinking buddy would run away but buddy wasn't threw his thought was you hold him and come back and finish him that didn't go over real good chunk the pit had buddy on the ground again we got them apart again and buddy ran for the house Carolyn with an open door to the house and chunk getting first Carolyn closing the door first trapping chunk inside buddy jumped into her arms and we took him to the vet.

He should have used that knife to stab the Pit Bull SMH

Nevada: "My niece was attacked today by her neighbor’s pit bull"

NEVADA -- Lorraine Grindstaff posted on Facebook October 16, 2017 ·

My niece was attacked today by her neighbor’s pit bull.

This bite goes to the bone. My niece is an animal lover and very gentle. This was a completely unprovoked attack. I was unable to save the life of my neighbor’s small poodle that was viciously attacked by a pit bull that lived around the corner.

While any dog can bite, and while there are those who argue that pit bulls are no more aggressive or dangerous than any other breed, that is patently false. Pit bulls as a breed are far more deadly than Bernese Mountain Dogs and many (most?) other breeds.

Anyone who leaves a pit bull unsupervised with any child is irresponsible, and it is criminal if any child is harmed or killed by an unsupervised pit bull. My niece’s neighbor violated criminal laws by having an unsupervised dog and a dog that bit a human, and the neighbor is also liable under civil law.

Nevada: "My beloved dog Ringo was attacked by a pit bull while we were waiting for my child's morning school bus"

NEVADA -- Hi, My beloved dog Ringo was attacked by a pit bull while we were waiting for my child's morning school bus.

The attack came out of nowhere as my Ringo is very docile.  The pit bull was being walked on a leash but his owner did NOTHING to help.  I could not get this dog off of my poor baby.  I stood there helpless while Ringo cried.

My 9 year old was in sheer terror as we tried to get this dog to let go.  I was kicking it, school kids were punching at it, but its owner did nothing but watch.

This man said he would pay for the vet, but when he saw it was $1000 he no longer answers his front door.

i am legally blind and on a fixed income, I do not have the money for all the procedures Ringo needs.  I paid for part of his surgery but I had to say no to some things because they would not treat him without payment.  I am pleading for anyone to help, I am only wishing for help with vet bills, nothing extra.

As of today I am going to be late on every single bill.  This tragedy has made me choose between his surgery and my mortgage.  I chose him and have my fingers crossed that some one could please help.   It would mean everything to my family, and restore my faith in many  ways.

Thank you for reading this, please donate if you can.

Update 1
Ringo had the drains removed from his neck and ear yesterday, he is wagging his tail again!!! A heartfelt thank you to our donors, you have all been so kind.

Update 2
His stitches come out on the 28th!!! He is healing nicely. Thanks again for all the support. I had a free consult with attorneys, sadly they all declined my case. The filing of paperwork and judgments plus fees is actually more than my vet bill. So there is no money in it for them basically.

Nevada: Let's play guess the breed! ___ attacked a neighbor, then attacked its owner, then attacked its other owner. Police say it was "physically latched onto" her arm. Taser had no effect on the ____ which then tried to attack officers so they shot it dead.

NEVADA -- Sparks police shot and killed a dog that reportedly bit and injured three people Friday night.

At around 8 p.m., officers responded to an apartment complex in the 1000 block of El Rancho Drive on a report of an assault and battery between neighbors, a news release from the Sparks Police Department said.

If the location is the Banbridge Apartments, it's a low-income housing project.

One of the victims reported being bit by a dog during the assault.

While officers were gathering information from the victim, "officers heard screaming coming from a neighboring apartment where the other party in the assault and battery lived."

According to the release, a male adult - later identified as one of the owners of the dog - was bleeding from his arm.

"The officers heard a female screaming and found the female in the entry way to an apartment with the dog biting her and being physically latched onto the female's upper arm," the release said.

The female victim was later found to be the second owner.

According to the release, officers tried to physically remove the dog and then taser it when the dog reportedly tried to bite the officers. An officer then shot the dog twice and killed it.

The breed of the dog was unknown.

Officers used a tourniquet to stop the female victim's bleeding. The owners were transported to a local hospital for treatment and the neighbor declined medical attention.

No arrests were made in the assault and battery case at this time, but will be submitted to the Sparks City Attorney for possible charges.

When deputies and the public administrator arrived, they made contact with Brenna Lise England, 38, who was residing on the property.

During the process of securing the property, the public administrator and the deputies noticed approximately 20 large dogs of different breeds, 35 Chihuahuas, 15 cats and two horses.

Valerie Turner Aubuchon - As sad as this is... it's not only pit bulls!

Thanks Valerie for the 'most obvious comment' award. However, you may want to remember that although all dogs can bite, it's mostly Pit Bulls that rip arms off, rip eyeballs out, and kill people.

Yes Valerie, but they are the ones that
do the most damage.
