MISSISSIPPI -- Back in 2016, these three idiots thought they had a great idea -- break into the home of a known drug-dealer and rob him.
Clearly, these three had never seen "Boogie Nights" or they'd have known that robbing drug dealers is never a good idea.
Sheriff Troy Peterson has said the three had targeted a neighbor's home to commit an armed robbery "for dope," but the doors to that home were locked. So these three morons decided to go next door and see what they could steal.
Theresa Lero, the woman who lives there, told deputies she was had been outside and walked in to find strangers in the back of her house. They fled and she and her dog followed them out, the document said. The woman said they fired shots that struck her dog twice and also fired in her direction.
They ran back to their car, only to find they'd gotten it stuck in the mud. Haha! What morons! So they all fled into the darkness on foot, leaving their clearly identifiable vehicle -with its VIN number and state tags - behind.
If this poor dog hadn't been shot and injured, it would be totally comical. I foresee these three idiots being prominently featured in other bungling mugshot reports. Of course, that's if they don't get themselves killed trying to rob another drug dealer.

MISSISSIPPI -- A Moss Point grandmother has been transferred out of the intensive care unit at the Singing River Hospital in Ocean Springs after being mauled by a pit bull Tuesday night.
If it hadn't been for the quick actions of a police officer, the situation could have been a lot worse.
The family of Barbara McCauley says she suffered extensive wounds to her arm that will require multiple reconstructive surgeries, a few of which she has already undergone. She also reportedly received multiple puncture wounds to her stomach and legs.
"I just remember walking back there and seeing my mom like that and I honestly thought that she was gone," said Javone Buza, McCauley's daughter. "I did not see her coming out of this."
Buza said the moments that led up to the intense dog attack, which happened on Gregory Street, happened quickly.
Buza said her mom was standing on someone's front step after knocking on their door, then the pit bull rushed towards McCauley.
"That's when the dog latched onto my mom's foot," Buza said. "I was told the owner actually grabbed the dog and was trying to hold it as my mom started running to the other neighbor's house, but she couldn't get inside. The door was locked."
Buza said the dog chased and continued to attack. And in the middle of the chaos, McCauley suffered a massive heart attack.
"It tore tendons out of her arm, she's got bites on both legs, her stomach, her foot," said Buza, "What if that had been a child? They wouldn't have made it through that."
Moss Point Police officers, including Police Chief Calvin Hutchins, happened to be close by and responded in minutes.
McCauley's boyfriend, Robert Allen remembered the intense scene.
"I came around the corner and saw blue lights," recalled the victim's boyfriend Robert Allen. "The police did good and had to shoot the dog."
The officer who shot the dog said he had to make a quick decision to do whatever it took to stop the animal from killing someone.
"I told everybody to get away from the dog," said Officer Caleb Vick. "And I did what I had to do to eliminate the threat and prevent the loss of life."
Now, McCauley is stable, although her family says it will be a long road to recovery.
McCauley's family says the owner has other dogs that roam around the neighborhood, and that the dog who attacked had been terrorizing the neighborhood for awhile, even attacking another small dog on the street over the last week.
According to Chief Hutchins, the owner of the dog has been identified and will at least face a charge of dog-at-large, which is a misdemeanor violation of the city's leash law.
In Jackson County those leash laws make it illegal for a person to allow their pet to run free without a leash on anyone else's property, as well as on public property, like roads.
According to Jackson County Animal Shelter, violations of that law can result in charges against the owner, which can include fines of up to $100 per charge.
Mississippi does not have any statewide breed-specific laws banning certain dog breeds, like pit bulls, although some cities, like Gautier, have enacted their own "dangerous dog" laws, which classifies dogs based on their actions and not their breeds.
Moss Point is not one of those cities.
There are also state laws in place that hold someone criminally responsible if a dog attacks and kills a person, allowing the dog's owner to be charged with manslaughter.
On Tuesday, Jan 2 my mother was viciously attacked by a pit bull in Moss Point, MS. During the attack she suffered multiple bites and lacerations. She also suffered a massive heart attack during the assault.
She was rushed to the hospital where she underwent 2 surgeries. She is still in ICU and is expected to be in the hospital for many more days.
Upon leaving the hospital she will need constant care, medical supplies and medication. Hopefully, most of her hospital bills will be covered through Medicaid once we are approved, but I am raising money for her care once she leaves. This money will go to purchase wound care materials, medication and co-pays for her continued doctor visits.
Thank you so much for helping in this long road to recovery and please pray for Barbara as she recovers from this horrible event.

MISSISSIPPI -- Four Canton residents were arrested over the weekend after the Madison County Sheriff’s Office busted up a dog fighting ring.
H.B. Preyer III, Maurice Greenwood, Derrick Mack and Michael Brown were each arrested and charged with dog fighting.
Preyer was also arrested for animal cruelty and failure to appear for a warrant. Greenwood was also charged with resisting arrest.
Sheriff Randy Tucker said they received an anonymous call late Saturday afternoon complaining about the noise of dogs in the 600 block of Rankin Road located off Highway 43 South.
Tucker said when deputies arrived they didn’t see anything, but they could hear the dogs barking in a wooded area off the road.
“They walked up on these guys actually fighting the dogs,” Tucker said. “One of them fled into the woods but was ultimately arrested a little while later.”
Greenwood was the suspect that ran from deputies.
Upon further investigation, deputies found a lot of evidence indicating a dog fighting ring, Tucker said.
“They had training equipment, a treadmill, IVs and antibiotics,” he said.
Deputies seized female adult dogs, 15 puppies, and 14 additional dogs, all of which appeared to be pit bull and pit bull mixes.
Tucker said the animals had not been taken care of and many suffered from malnourishment.
The two animals that were fighting when deputies arrived were taken to the Animal Emergency & Referral Center in Flowood for emergency treatment. The other animals were placed in shelters.
Tucker said he didn’t know if they were just training for a fight, saying that generally there are a lot fo spectators gathered around gambling on dog fights.
Brown remains in custody at the Madison County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond. Preyer remains in custody on a $100,000 bond for dog fighting, $50,000 bond for animal cruelty, and $500 bond for his failure to appear warrant.
Greenwood was released after posting bail on a $100,000 bond for dog fighting and $1,000 bond for resisting arrest. Mack was released after posting bail on a $100,000 bond.

MISSISSIPPI -- A woman attacked by a pit bull in the Beatline community earlier this month has died.
Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell says 61-year-old Connie Storey was mauled by a "family pet."
Connie Storey went out to feed her son's pit bull when the dog suddenly turned on Storey and attacked her. Storey's son called 911.
"When medical personnel and law enforcement got to the scene, it was obvious that Mrs. Storey had some severe injuries," says Waddell.
Storey's injuries were so serious, first responders called for a medical helicopter.
"With the extent of here injuries, the decision was made to notify AirCare. She was airlifted to Jackson," says Waddell.
Storey died at the hospital Wednesday, 12 days after the vicious attack.
"It is just a terrible accident. The family needs a lot of prayers during these hard times," says Waddell.
The pit bull was shot and killed by Storey's son, the owner of the dog.
"The dog is no longer a threat to the community," says Waddell.
Charges will not be filed.

We have some sad news to report out of Neshoba County. A woman attacked by a pit bull in the Beatline community earlier this month has died.
Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell tells Newscenter 11 that 61-year old Connie Storey died from her injuries at a local hospital Wednesday morning.
Storey was attacked September 8th while she was feeding the dog at a home on County Road 276. Storey had been in the hospital since the day of the attack.
The dog, which was owned by Storey’s son, was put down. No charges have been filed.
