St. Johns County man, James Lyon, accused of bestiality

FLORIDA -- A St. Johns County sexual predator is facing disturbing new charges.

James Lee Lyons, 52, has been arrested for animal cruelty and sexual activity involving an animal.

He was released from prison just about two years ago for convictions of attempted sexual battery on a child and sexual act with a child while in a familial role in 1998.

Lyons was reported to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office by a neighbor. The man says one of his two dogs wandered in to Lyons’ yard when they were let outside Saturday. He couldn’t locate the dog when he tried to bring it inside and later saw Lyons carrying the dog.

The man says the dog then acted very withdrawn and had obvious injuries.  A vet then confirmed suspicion of animal abuse and bestiality.

Lyons was taken in to custody without incident and is now in St. Johns County Jail.
