Two Women Facing Dozens Of Animal Cruelty Charges In Elliott County

KENTUCKY -- Two women are facing more than two dozen charges of animal cruelty after deputies said they found several abandoned dogs in Elliott County, Kentucky.

Jamie Carrico, 42, and Lisa Hudson, 46, both of Sandy Hook were charged with 26 counts of animal cruelty each.

The Elliott County Sheriff's Department said they received anonymous calls about a home on Horton Flatts Road with several dogs inside on Sept. 12.

Deputies said they searched the home and said that they found 20 dogs inside the home and six dogs outside, with no food or water. Deputies said a dog carcass was found inside, and the home was in deplorable condition. They believe the power had been turned off for weeks, and the dogs were left alone for several days.

The two women turned themselves in to the sheriff's department on Friday.

The 26 dogs were taken to the Lexington Humane Society where they were treated for health issues and will be available for adoption.
