Washoe Deputies Arrest Reno Man on Animal Cruelty Charges

NEVADA -- Washoe County Deputies have arrested a Reno man on animal cruelty charges after they say they found animal remains inside in a motel room earlier this week.

Deputies say a manager of an unidentified local motel called authorities to report evidence of suspicious activity found by one of the motel’s staff in one of the rooms.

When officers arrived on scene, they say they found the remains of several animals, along with drugs and paraphernalia inside the empty room.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and Washoe County Regional Animal Services launched a joint investigation which identified 24-year-old Jason Schilo Brown as a suspect.

Deputies say Brown was arrested without incident on Wednesday and booked into the Washoe County Jail on five felony counts of willful torture of an animal and one count of possession of a controlled substance. His bail is set at $55,000.

This is an ongoing joint investigation.
