CALIFORNIA -- Salinas Police officers rescued a dog trapped on an embankment in between the freeway and a culvert this week.
Juliane Sharpe, a community service officer with the department, said she was dispatched to the area after getting a call about the dog stuck on an embankment.
Sharpe said Officer Crabill Jr. and Officer Miller were working nearby and came to help.
Officer Crabill Jr. climbed along a small concrete ledge while holding onto a chain link fence and then climbed along the side of the embankment to get to the dog.
A few minutes later, he was able to pick up the dog and carry the animal to safety.
