Connecticut: Waterford Woman Aftin Perez, 28, Facing Animal Cruelty Charges Against 8 Dogs

CONNECTICUT -- A 28-year-old local woman is facing eight counts of animal cruelty and three counts of risk of injury to minor after police said they seized seven poorly cared for dogs from her residence in February and found another dog dead.

Police said they executed a search warrant at Aftin A. Perez's Mohegan Avenue residence on Feb. 19 after an investigation into an animal cruelty complaint and seized seven dogs from the property.

Another dog was found deceased on the property, police said.

Police said they took the dogs to local animal shelters.

Perez was charged Wednesday with eight counts of animal cruelty, three counts of risk of injury to a minor, eight counts of having an unlicensed dog and was also cited for failure to vaccinate the animals. She was held on a $30,000 bond.
