Maryland: Police say Albert Knox, 62, nearly drowned his cat in toilet to "correct" its behavior

MARYLAND -- A Maryland man has been charged with animal cruelty after police say punished his cat by dunking it underwater in a toilet and a bathtub.

The Aberdeen Police Department responded to the Fairbrooke Apartments at 700 W. Bel Air Avenue Tuesday night after a concerned citizen reported an injured animal.

Police say they found the cat "soaked, wounded and disoriented."

Based on Albert Knox’s statements and a witness interview, officers determined that Knox attempted to correct the cat’s behavioral issues by dunking it underwater in a toilet and bathtub. Other physical injuries were also visible on the cat, according to police.

Knox, 62, was arrested and faces two charges of animal cruelty and aggravated cruelty to an animal.

The 1-year-old female cat was taken by the Harford County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Unit for an emergency evaluation.
