Illinois: Three years ago, Kara Hartrich, 4, was attacked and killed by her family's pit bulls. Pit bulls she had helped choose as puppies.

ILLINOIS -- Kara Hartich's Angel Day is January 17th, 2014, which was also her 4th birthday.

Kara and her little sister were being cared for by their grandmother in their Bloomington, Illinois home when the family's two well cared for pit bulls attacked the little girl; a 3rd pit bull had been crated at the time.

Kara's grandmother tried desperately to save her granddaughter, but was not able to.

Kara had loved those dogs and had even helped pick them out when they were puppies.

Kara not only was a princess, but she was also Super Girl. She was a very happy little girl who loved to smile and give hugs.

In addition to singing and dancing, Kara enjoyed playing dress-up and dressed appropriately in her princess attire daily. She had a wonderful sense of humor and had loved having tea parties--sometimes the dogs would join her. She loved playing outside on her swing set and she sometimes even liked to play in the dirt.

Kara's family created a beautiful memorial garden in Kara's honor. She is terribly missed today, her 3rd Angel Day, and also her 7th birthday.

Our hearts are aching for Kara and her family-- may they find peace and comfort in their love and memories of their precious angel.
