Leesburg man wanted for fracturing puppy's leg, deputies say

FLORIDA -- Lake County deputies are searching for a Leesburg man they said hit a puppy with a wooden rake, fracturing the puppy's leg.

Neighbors told deputies the puppy's owner, David Pollard, was disciplining the dog for going into the neighbor's yard.

When the puppy hid under a vehicle to get away Pollard used a wooden handle of a rake to "violently poke the puppy," deputies said.

Witnesses told animal control they noticed the puppy limping after the incident and called the Lake County Sheiff's Office.

Lake County Animal Control said the puppy has a fractured left hind leg and is being treated at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic in Leesburg.

Lake County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for Pollard's arrest on charges of felony animal cruelty.

Anyone will information about where to find Pollard is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 352-343-2101.
