North Carolina: Marinna Rollins and her boyfriend Jarren Heng took her 'emotional support' dog out into the woods, tied it to a tree, and while it was calmly looking at them, shot it repeatedly with a rifle at point-blank range -- while laughing about it

NORTH CAROLINA -- An Army veteran was thrown behind bars Tuesday for allegedly tying her PTSD emotional therapy dog to a tree and shooting him five times at close range — killing the poor pup for no apparent reason while her boyfriend, a current soldier, filmed it.

Marinna Anndee Rollins, 23, was arrested by police in Fayetteville, NC, and charged with animal cruelty and conspiracy after footage of the deranged incident reportedly surfaced on Facebook.

Court documents obtained by the Fayetteville Observer describe how she teamed up with her boyfriend, Jarren Heng, 25, for the seemingly random killing earlier this month.

The couple allegedly led the white and gray pit bull to a wooded area before tying him to a tree and taking his life. The canine — dubbed Camboui, but referred to as Cam or Cammy — ultimately was shot five times with a rifle as Rollins and Heng, who is still enlisted and stationed at Fort Bragg, took turns filming him.

“Let me hit him once,” Heng can be heard saying in the video.

Throughout the disturbing clip, he and Rollins both laugh and joke about the dog’s brutal death before they eventually dump him in a shallow grave.

“That’s his nerves going,” Rollins says, as Camboui’s body begins to convulse.

She and Heng can also be seen drinking alcohol in several pictures that they took before allegedly killing him.

ROLLINS GOT THE DOG WITH HER FIRST HUSBAND

Cam was a sweet dog who loved people despite the betrayal he faced by several of them. A stocky pit bull, Cam’s dark gray patches on his white fur made him look like a miniature cow.

When he was around 2 years old, his first owner dropped him off at Cumberland County Animal Control. Cam, then known as Huey, was put up for adoption. Friends of the Cumberland County Animal Shelter, a group of animal shelter volunteers that aim to find homes for animals, put his photo up on Facebook in December of 2016.

“Please someone show this boy what a real loving forever home is,” the group wrote under his photo. “He is super-friendly, very sweet, calm and loving. He just wants someone to love him and give him a chance.”

Rollins’ husband adopted Huey shortly after separating from Rollins in January of 2016. He asked that he not be named because of the death threats Rollins and Heng are facing.

“He was great,” Rollins’ husband said.

Huey followed Rollins’ husband around wherever he went. They often shared a bed. Rollins’ husband said Huey even saved him when his house got broken into one night.

“Huey jumped off the bed and barked,” Rollins’ husband said. “Huey scared them and saved the day.”

The burglars ran away and never came back again after seeing Huey.

When Rollins’ husband, who is in the Army, learned that he was assigned to go to South Korea, he said Rollins begged him to keep Huey.

“She cried,” Rollins’ husband said.

He let her keep the dog. He feels sick about it now.

While Rollins’ husband was in South Korea, she changed Huey’s name to Camboui. Rollins’ friends knew the dog simply as “Cam.”

She also got Cam certified as an emotional support animal for post-traumatic stress disorder, according to friends. Friends said she has been diagnosed with additional mental health issues.

Rollins joined the Army in February of 2014, according to a spokesman with the Army Human Resources Command at Fort Knox. She served as a multimedia illustrator in the Army and spent time in South Korea.

A friend, who asked not to be named for fear of her safety, said Rollins got into many arguments with fellow soldiers and higher-ups during her time in the Army.

“She made up a lot of stories,” the friend, who served with her in the Army, said.

Rollins medically retired from the Army in January of 2017, according to court documents. It is unclear as to when Rollins and Heng began dating.

Heng is a soldier in a unit that reports to the Army Special Operations Command, Lt. Col. Robert Bockholt said. Bockholt declined to reveal the exact unit Heng is in.

Rollins’ friend from the Army said the couple had a volatile relationship.

“He was very controlling,” the friend said. “He didn’t like her having friends.”

In April, Rollins began posting on Facebook in attempt to find Cam a new home. She told her friend that caring for him was too expensive.

On April 17, she posted that she had a great last day with Cam and that he was going to a new home.

“Sad he has to go, but he will be much happier where he is heading off to,” Rollins wrote on Facebook.

Heng replied to Rollins’ post with a smiley-face emoji.

“He’s going to have such a great new life,” Heng wrote.

Court documents detailed the alleged shooting. Heng and Rollins took Cam to an unknown wooded area.

Rollins and Heng took pictures with Cam in their Army uniform pants and boots. Heng was shirtless and Rollins wore a pink polka-dotted bra, which revealed a large tattoo of a rifle across her upper chest.

Both Rollins and Heng held a bottle of Coca-Cola and a glass bottle in the pictures.

The couple next tied Cam to a tree, the warrant said. Cam sat down and turned away from Rollins right before she shot him in the head. She then shot him a few more times, according to court documents.

Heng and Rollins took turns filming the incident, according to the warrant. The Fayetteville Observer obtained a copy of three videos taken by Heng and Rollins.

“Let me hit him once,” Heng said as he filmed the shooting.

Rollins also filmed Heng shooting the dog, court documents said.

After they both shot the dog several times, Rollins dragged Cam’s dead body around before shoving the dog in a shallow grave, the warrant said.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office investigated the shooting. During the course of the investigation, they found multiple videos of the shooting filmed by Heng and Rollins and text messages discussing the shooting.

A Facebook page, titled “Justice For Cam,” has posted the graphic footage of Camboui being killed, in an attempt to bring more attention to the incident.

“A lot of people are getting upset that this video is posted here,” the moderator wrote Monday.

“You do not have to click play and watch it but let me clarify something. Marinna Rollins is trying to claim that the dog was sick and suffering and that she did this out of Mercy. The video has been shared, to prove otherwise, because we don’t want her to get off easy for the crime she committed. This was clearly not mercy.”

An investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Cumberland County Animal Control ultimately found that Rollins and Heng had both broken the law when they took Cam’s life. It not only turned up the video, but also several text messages in which they allegedly discussed the shooting.

“As graphic as the videos are, they tell Camboui’s story, that he was unable to do,” the moderators of the “Justice For Cam” page said. “Many people thought he was going to a new home, and family. These videos prove otherwise, that he was brought out to a wooded area, shot multiple times, and then beaten and dragged to a shallow grave. Like a piece of trash, not a well taken care of ESA. His body is still out there, somewhere in those NC woods.”

Rollins’ bail initially was set at $10,000 Tuesday, while Heng’s was set at $5,000 after his arrest Monday night. But both amounts were raised to $25,000 following requests from prosecutors.

“They can be heard on the tape laughing and giggling as the dog was being killed,” Cumberland County District Attorney Clark Reaves said Tuesday night during the couple’s first court appearance.

“It was a therapy dog.”

Rollins and Heng have each been charged with animal cruelty and conspiracy. It’s unclear when their next court date is.

Note: I noticed several news outlets keep referring to her as a Vet, Army Veteran... from the Fay Observer:

"Rollins joined the Army in February of 2014, according to a spokesman with the Army Human Resources Command at Fort Knox. She served as a multimedia illustrator in the Army and spent time in South Korea."

"A friend, who asked not to be named for fear of her safety, said Rollins got into many arguments with fellow soldiers and higher-ups during her time in the Army.

“'She made up a lot of stories,' the friend, who served with her in the Army, said.

"Rollins was medically retired from the Army in January of 2017."

I thought only people who served overseas in conflicts or wars were called veterans. But the VA defines it as:

Title 38 of the Code of Federal Regulations defines a veteran as “a person who served in the active military, naval, or air service and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable.” This definition explains that any individual that completed a service for any branch of armed forces classifies as a veteran as long as they were not dishonorably discharged.

So I guess that means she gets to carry the title of veteran, which sucks. Also, because she is no longer in the military, they can't punish her. From what I understand, they have a lot more power to punish people for committing crimes. At least her skank boyfriend Jarren Heng is still in the military - hopefully they'll nail him to the wall b/c we all know hardly anyone gets a jail sentence for animal cruelty.

Note: I have a copy of one of the videos and tried to upload it to Youtube but they refused it saying it was a copyright violation. I don't know how it can be a copyright violation when it's going around the internet, but whatever. If you want to see the videos, click here:

I couldn't watch it but I listened to it and it's horrible. There's a song from the 90s that says in the chorus, "Know your enemy". This is similar - these two odious cretins are two-faced - making us believe they're normal people when really sadists of the worst kind.

  1. These are really sick people. They need to be punished and locked up and never be allowed to have any animal again. Absolutely animal abuse. Terrifying to think any human could do this to their own previously loved animal. LOCK THEM UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY
