New York: Seven-year-old boy mauled by relative's two Rottweilers

NEW YORK -- Niagara Falls Police responded to calls of a seven year old boy being attacked by two Rottweilers on Wednesday afternoon.

Kaden Mitchell was being babysat by his cousin, Nikki Richmond, at a family member's house when the incident happened.

 

  

Richmond says she was attempting to crate the two dogs when Kaden and another little girl ran towards the backyard trampoline, and the dogs attacked.

 

"I jumped on the dog and tried to get him off my cousin and I screamed for help," Richmond told 7 Eyewitness News.

By Wednesday evening, Mitchell was put into a medically-induced coma at Women and Children's Hospital.  He suffered severe injuries to his head and face, and needed a stint in his neck to return the blood flow to his brain.

It's unclear when doctors will bring him out of the coma.

SURPRISED OWNER
The canines' owners say the dogs have never shown signs of aggression before.

They immediately opted to have the one-and-a-half year old dogs euthanized at the Niagara County S-P-C-A.
