(July 2017) California: Isaias Gonzalez stole his neighbor's dog, say police, and then abandoned him in an orchard

CALIFORNIA -- Chopper, a beloved family dog so near and dear to his human family, went missing last night around 8:00 pm.

After two hours of looking for him all around their dairy, his human Robert decided to look at their security cameras. They were shocked and saddened to find that their neighbor took the dog in his car!

Robert immediately contacted the Merced County Sheriff’s Office, and after looking at the security camera footage, the deputy took the neighbor, Isaias Lamas Gonzalez, into custody.

Gonzalez was charged with making criminal terroristic threats and grand theft of a dog, both felonies, abandoning an animal and being an unlicensed driver, both misdemeanors, and failure to show proof of financial responsibility to a police officer, an infraction. He was released after posting bail.

Gonzelez told Robert that he abandoned Chopper on Griffith south of Bloss. Chopper was found today just before 1:00 pm in the orchards east of Griffith between Geer and Williams.

Robert told ALLmercednews.com that this is not the first problem they have had with this neighbor, but we sure hope it will be the last.

Thank you to everyone in the Hilmar area who kept their eye out for Chopper this morning and helped return him back home where he belonged.
