This is their second dog attack in six months but this time there were no fatalities.
Still the couple is ready for someone to take responsibility.
"The cat was out on the front porch, we heard a scream, I looked out there and their were two pit bulls mauling it," says Phil Deckert, cat owner.
Though they are thankful their beloved pet didn't die - it somehow survived with broken ribs - and they are stuck with the vet bill, they are afraid that if something doesn't change soon animals won't be the only ones that need to be cautious.
"I have had two attacks on my animals by pit bulls in the last six months. Eventually it is going to be a small child or an elderly person," says Deckert.
For the couple they didn't just almost lose a pet, they almost lost a member of the family.
Deckert says, "because she can't have children or anything, this is the closest thing she can have to a child."
"My cats are my everything. I haven't stopped crying since. I am tired of losing animals. Like he said, next it could be one of our nieces or nephews," says Jenifer Thomas, cat owner.
Despite their frustrations the couple doesn't blame the breed. They are upset with owners that aren't taking proper care of their pets.
Seriously, shut up.
APOLOGIST FRED STROHM WORKS FOR THE HUMANE SOCIETY
The Humane Society says you can't blame a breed for the actions of an individual, someone has to take responsibility.
"If you think about kind of the bad rap that these breeds have gotten it is the Pit Bulls, before then it was the German Shepherds, before then it was the Rottweilers, and then it was the Dobermans. Where is the common thread there? It is the people that have them. It all depends on the person that is taking responsibility of the animal that is supposed to be in their care," says Fred Strohm, operations manager of the Terre Haute Humane Society.
Fred Strohm is a complete moron. He wants you to think vicious Pit Bulls are ONLY owned by "bad people", by "mean people". The truth is, they're owned by all sorts of people just as mean/bad people own Collies. Mean/bad people own Goldendoodles. Mean/bad people own Irish Wolfhounds. Yet, when is the last time you heard of those 'abused' breeds of dogs attacking and killing people and other pets? It's not that the news doesn't report it - despite what the apologists say - it's BECAUSE IT'S NOT HAPPENING
The couple filed a police report with the Terre Haute Police Department.
If you recognize the dogs in the video or have any information about their owner please contact the Terre Haute Police Department immediately.
