Just had one of the scariest experiences of our lives.
Four very drunk young people on Monroe Ave, across from the dog park, lost control of their pit bull as we were walking by with Pele, and it broke off the leash and attacked her.
It went straight for her throat, and it took all of Pat's strength to get it off her. His knees and hands are scraped, and Pele is shaken but there was no skin broken, due to Pat's quick action.
I screamed at the owners to control their dog and they laughed. Actually laughed. Pat saved Pele's life tonight and I hope the police find them and take away their dog before he kills someone's beloved pet.

Pit bull attack update: while we called both animal control and the local police after our non aggressive 25 lb dog was savagely attacked by a large, white (with a few black spots) pit bull, I heard back today that the four drunken young people and their dog had left by the time the police arrived.
The aggressive dog is still out there, and we fear that it may attack again. The incident happened around 7:30 pm on Friday, Nov 17, on Monroe Avenue, between Bell Del Ray apartments and Swings Coffee shop.
The young people in question were actually so inebriated that they did nothing but laugh during the attack. They said,when questioned, that they lived in the apartment building and admitted that they were drunk.
One was a slightly heavy set woman with very short blonde hair, two were African American women both slender, one with big glasses and long, straightened hair. The young man holding the dog until it broke free had brown hair, side parted, and I believe a beard. All looked to be in their twenties and out of their senses on booze and maybe drugs.
Please report them to animal control if you see them out with their dog and anything happens, for that pit bull nearly killed our dog, and my husband was injured while pulling it off and saving her life.
He should have beat the little hipsters even more senseless.
