Louisiana: Police say Jacob Blackwell, 25, wrapped tape around his dog's mouth, neck and legs with electrical tape and then kicked it to death

LOUISIANA -- On Monday, May 20, a dog was found dead in an open field on Black Bayou Extension Road; the Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation and later arrested 25-year-old Jacob Blackwell, according to Major Kevin Hanna.

The Sheriff’s office responded to a field on Black Bayou Road where a dog was lying in the middle of the field where his legs, mouth, and neck were wrapped in electrical tape.

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Detectives began investigating and learned that Blackwell was the owner of the dog. Blackwell had several dogs that he was keeping and that this particular dog was being "uncooperative".

As a result of the dogs "non-compliance" he kicked the dog to death.

Blackwell then taped the dog up, and abandoned it in a nearby field in an attempt to make it seem as though someone else had killed the dog.

I don't believe that. The dog would've bitten him or run off - it would not let him kick it to death. He taped it up and THEN kicked and stomped it to death.

Jacob Blackwell, of 40341 Black Bayou Ext., Gonzales, was charged with two counts of cruelty to animals. He was booked in to the Ascension Parish Jail.
