Oneida County man jailed on animal cruelty charge after dog dies

NEW YORK --  A Camden man was arrested on Wednesday on charges that his mistreatment of a dog led to its death.

The animal was taken from 25-year-old Ian West’s residence on Babcock Road on Friday.

It died a few days later because of its deteriorated health, according to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

The Sheriff’s Office charged West with aggravated cruelty to animals.

He was arraigned in Town of Camden Court and taken to jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

West is scheduled to return to court on a later date.
